Provide neonatology consultation or repeat consultation prior to the birth of the infant.

Establish contact between the family and members of the NICU team and/or other support individuals prior to the birth of the infant.

Maintain infant-family contact throughout the admission process.

Ensure that the family is fully informed of their infant's condition.

Welcome the family to the NICU.
